Rhode Island Tourism
Discover Iconic Rhode Island landmarks through immersive AR portals.
Zimmerman, Rep+Repeat et Rhode Island Tourism

In collaboration with Zimmerman, Rep+Repeat, and Rhode Island Tourism, Dpt. designed an interactive augmented reality experience that allows visitors to explore six iconic Rhode Island landmarks through immersive AR portals.
Accessible directly from a phone or tablet, this tourism activation transforms any space into a window onto the spectacular landscapes of The Ocean State. With integrated 360° videos inside each portal, users are invited to step virtually into Rhode Island’s most emblematic sites, no travel required.
Technology in the service of emotion
At Dpt., we believe strongly in the unique power of augmented reality to make the extraordinary accessible in simple ways. This project is a perfect example: with just a few gestures, users find themselves transported to the cliffs of Block Island, standing before the Point Judith Lighthouse, or in the heart of downtown Providence.
Six locations, six experiences
- Newport County — The Breakers
- Block Island — The Mohegan Bluffs
- Warwick / West Bay — Rocky Point State Park
- Blackstone Valley — Old Slater Mill
- Providence — Downtown Pedestrian Bridge
- South County — Point Judith Lighthouse
A powerful tool to inspire travel
Beyond being playful and immersive, this experience also serves as an agile and engaging tourism promotion tool. It sparks curiosity, enriches brand storytelling, and captivates diverse audiences, all without heavy infrastructure or technical barriers.
This project reaffirms our belief: when thoughtfully designed, augmented reality can generate wonder with remarkable simplicity.
